Andrew Lynes is a third year undergraduate student at Trinity College, University of Toronto. He is pursuing a Joint Specialist in History and Political Science, focusing on Canadian studies and International Relations. In addition to his position at the UTMP, he is a Compliance Analyst with the G8 Research Group. His academic interests include Canadian political, intellectual, and cultural history, Canadian prime ministerial history, and philosophy, particularly political theory and informal logic. He also enjoys playing the guitar and video games in his spare time.

Ciara Bracken-Roche is a recent graduate of University College at the University of Toronto, with a B.Sc. in Psychology and International Relations. While still an undergraduate, Ciara established the first fair trade, organic cafe in the West Toronto Junction neighbourhood. Currently, Ciara is involved in a number of grassroots community groups, working in her community, trying to affect change at the local level. The interaction of the various levels of government, and the broader community, is of specific interest to Ciara, and she hopes her position as a research analyst will help her gain insight into this issue. Ciara’s hobbies include rowing, yoga, cooking, and hiking.

Cindy Chung is a recent graduate of Trinity College, University of Toronto, with an Honors B.A. in International Relations and Political Science. Cindy has worked for the Ontario Human Rights Commission and this has stimulated her scholarly interest in social justice, development of international law and human rights, immigration, and refugee policy. Cindy is a strong advocate of human rights and is a member of the Anti-Racism Committee and Research and Planning Committee with the Chinese Canadian National Council. In addition, she is also the Co-Founder of the Tibetan Chinese Youth Dialogue where she has contributed to creating a sustainable platform for dialogue between the two communities within the Greater Toronto Area. On her spare time, Cindy enjoys traveling, practicing meditation, and cooking.

Jason Liang is a third year undergraduate student at Trinity College, University of Toronto. Majoring in political science and peace and conflict studies, his academic interests include transnational crime, Canadian security issues and western immigration policies. Outside of research, Jason has also written for the NAMUN Diplomat and currently serves as a member of Frontier College’s campus Organizational Team. In his spare time, he enjoys watching movies and sketching.

Laura McConnell is a second year University of Toronto student from Woodsworth College. She is specializing in International Relations and also hopes to complete a minor in French. Being born and raised in Northern Ontario, she is concerned with equity and development differences between Northern and Southern Ontario. Her interests include local and regional government initiatives, especially concerning environmental policies. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time at her sorority.

Mahmood Mustafaa is a third year undergraduate student at Victoria College, University of Toronto. Specializing in political science and history, he is particularly interested in Canadian affairs and American politics. Along with being a research analyst with UTMP, he is also involved with the Hart House Debate team, the G8 Research group, and the Social Justice Committee. Over the years, Mahmood has interned for the United Way, the public consolation firm and think-tank MASSLBP, and also worked for the City of Toronto—in helping research for recommending new electoral systems in municipal elections on a new campaign entitled “Better Ballot”. Through researching with the UTMP; Mahmood hopes to shed new light onto the current democratic deficit in Canada, propose new policies in revamping the Parliament, and thus bring about positive change within Canadian politics. Mahmood’s passions and hobbies include acting, debating, reading, and playing soccer.

Maria Robson is a fourth year undergraduate at Trinity College, specializing in International Relations, majoring in Economics, and minoring in History. Her interests include European, Cold War, and intelligence history. Maria is part of the G8 Research Group and, outside of university, serves as the Donner Canadian Foundation’s Program Coordinator. She is also part of the national Civitas Society, which is dedicated to public policy discussion and debate. In her spare time, Maria enjoys reading and memory games.

Salahuddin Rafiquddin is a first year student with a tentative joint specialist in International Relations and Peace and Conflict Studies. He is currently active in numerous student run organizations ranging from the Policy Exchange, University of Toronto Model Parliament, International Relations Society and Habitat for Humanity. In his spare time he volunteers at local homeless shelters in the GTA, enjoys wood working and any other do-it-yourself home improvement projects. He hopes to one day run an orphanage in Africa.
